Programming the events schedule at the asylym centre in Basel Switzerland, in collaboration with the Swiss Red Cross and EmphangsVereinZentrum (EVZ).
The Workshop
A programme started and led by myself as a Project Lead Volunteer with Red Cross. In collaboration with schools and NGO’s in Basel, I recruited volunteers from the Internation School Basel to start a fundraiser, collecting art materials and tools for the workshops. Workshops were held once per week as the asylum center, inviting children, youth, and adults to join in.
The workshops were based on the creative process as a therapeutic tool, expressing personal experience through visual tools. Seeing children and their mothers bonding, some drew their journey to the asylum, discovering hidden talents of those who were artists back home, the workshops served as a communication tool between ourselves and each other.
